Quartz countertops are an engineered stone and resin blend where the resulting surface is hard like granite, yet glossy and non-porous.  Quartz is different thanks to the polymer resin mixed in with the crushed stone. This makes it resistant to scratches. In fact, knives will actually be blunted before any true damage is caused to the quartz. 

 You can choose quartz that’s practically any color and pattern, which means that you’ll have no trouble ensuring that your quartz countertop will fit your overall kitchen design.Quartz can be solid, speckled, or replicate granite with veining. Due to the ability to mix the quartz granules with glass, granite, and other pigments, it is possible to create infinite chromatic and aesthetic effects and obtain a custom look.

Being non-porous, quartz resists staining, scratching and chipping more than granite, marble or concrete and other materials. Because it is nonporous, Quartz does not require sealants or waxes.

Casual exposure to alkaline solutions, such as diluted bleach, will not damage Quartz. However, highly acids or alkaline cleaners are not recommended. To be safe, avoid using cleaners that contain bleach.So if anything spills, simple soap and warm water is typically all it takes to clean up.
