Quartz is a unique engineered stone  that’s man-made rather than mined from the earth in blocks. It’s composed primarily of crystals of quartz, a common mineral, that are crushed and then combined with resins and pigments to create a slab with a range of colors and patterns. Quartz is impervious to stains since it is completely non-porous. Quartz is also a bit more flexible than natural stone and is much more scratch and chip resistant. However, unlike natural stone, quartz is heat resistant, however, you'll need to use a trivet before you place hot pots or pans on the countertop.  Many surfaces bubble and warp when in contact with heat. However, quartz is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 399 degrees Fahrenheit without bending or warping.
